The West Oro Ratepayers Association (WORA) was formed out of the necessity in 2003 and incorporated in 2004 to stop imminent urban sprawl and loss of green space from inappropriate development. Since then we have assumed volunteer monitoring and stewardship of the rural ambiance and environmental health of Oro-Medonte including Lake Simcoe.
We cooperate with other citizen groups on environmental and growth issues directly and through our membership in the Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition and W.A.V.E. |

We are not opposed to growth but are adamant that it be controlled, financially sustainable, environmentally responsible, within the Provincial Policy Guidelines, and within the community’s interest
Our activities include monitoring and deputing to the township and county councils to educate and motivate these legislative bodies to make decisions that respect provincial law and protect the interest of the constituents they represent. Representations to tribunals such as the Ontario Municipal Board occur on an as needed basis.
Our executive and board of directors are elected for a 3 year term. Our financial statements are presented and approved at our annual general meeting held in late summer.
