Support a Strong Lake Simcoe Protection  Act!

WORA is very concerned about the condition of Lake Simcoe. Since our inception in 2003 one of our guiding principles has been to support all efforts to restore the health of Lake Simcoe and to ensure its health is maintained and continues to improve well into the future.

In July 2007 the WORA Executive took part along with 65 other interested groups in an historic summit on the shores of Lake Simcoe in Barrie, where the Premier of Ontario announced that he would introduce a “Lake Simcoe Protection Act”.

In our view, this announcement was a good start. It is our job now to help make sure the government keeps its promise to enact into law the “Lake Simcoe Protection Act”.

Campaign Lake Simcoe is a partnership Environmental Defense, Ontario Nature and Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition. The goal of Campaign Lake Simcoe is to get a strong Lake Simcoe Protection Act passed. As you know, WORA is a participating, active member of Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition.

As an organization WORA has committed its support to Campaign Lake Simcoe. We also need your help. We need each of you to consider actively participating in this very historic and worthwhile cause. We encourage our members to consider personally supporting ‘Campaign Lake Simcoe’ through donations, and by letting your MPP know you support a strong Lake Simcoe Protection Act. We will inform you when it is time for to take further action and as the campaign progresses.
